Overview
01 · What stands out
66.8 MP stacked sensor
A fully stacked full-frame sensor gives very high resolution with fast readout.
02 · What stands out
30 fps without blackout
Electronic-shutter bursts up to 30 fps with AF/AE tracking, plus Pre-Capture.
03 · What stands out
8K and 4K 120p video
Records 8K up to 30p and 4K up to 120p, with 4K 60p oversampled from 7K.
The Sony a7R VI is the high-resolution model in Sony's full-frame a7 line, a mirrorless camera built for landscape, studio, portrait and wildlife shooters who want to crop deep into a frame and still keep fine detail. This listing is the body only, so it fits people who already own E-mount lenses or want to pair it with the glass that suits their work.
Inside the Sony a7R VI is a 66.8 MP fully stacked Exmor RS sensor and the BIONZ XR2 engine with an integrated AI unit. The fast readout allows blackout-free bursts of up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter, or 10 with the mechanical shutter, plus Pre-Capture to save the moment before you press the button. Autofocus uses up to 759 phase-detection points and recognizes people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes, which helps the Sony a7R VI keep up with wildlife and birds.
Sony rates the 5-axis in-body stabilization at 8.5 stops in the center and 7.0 at the edges (CIPA 2024). Video reaches 8K at up to 30p, 4K at up to 120p, and 4K 60p oversampled from 7K, with S-Log3 for grading, so the Sony a7R VI also works as a hybrid mirrorless camera for paid video. You frame through a 9.44-million-dot OLED viewfinder or a 3.2-inch four-axis touchscreen.
In the box with the Sony a7R VI, Sony packs the NP-SA100 battery, the BC-SAD1 battery charger (a USB PD power supply and cable are not included), a cable clamper, shoulder strap, body cap, accessory shoe cap and eyepiece cup. You will need a lens and memory cards: both slots take CFexpress Type A or SD UHS-I/II cards, and CFexpress Type A is the safer match for 8K and fast bursts. The Sony a7R VI fits Sony E-mount lenses, full-frame and APS-C. See every mirrorless camera we carry.

Questions
Does the Sony a7R VI come with a lens?
No. ILCE-7RM6/B is the body only. Any Sony E-mount lens fits, and Sony sells lens kits separately.
Does the a7R VI have in-body image stabilization?
Yes. It has 5-axis sensor-shift stabilization that Sony rates at 8.5 stops in the center and 7.0 stops at the edges (CIPA 2024, with the FE 50mm F1.2 GM).
What video can the a7R VI record?
It records 8K at up to 30p, 4K at up to 120p, and 4K 60p oversampled from 7K, in 10-bit 4:2:2 with S-Log3 available.
What memory cards does the a7R VI use?
Both slots accept CFexpress Type A cards or SD UHS-I/II cards. CFexpress Type A is the better choice for 8K recording and long high-speed bursts.
