Overview
01 · What stands out
Ready to shoot
Body, 18-45mm zoom, battery and charger come together, so only a memory card is missing.
02 · What stands out
Uncropped 4K
Canon records 4K up to 30p across the full sensor width, oversampled from 6K.
03 · What stands out
Small and light
Canon lists the body at about 375 g with battery and card, and the zoom retracts for carrying.
The Canon EOS R50 kit pairs a small, light APS-C mirrorless body with the RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM zoom, so you can start shooting the day you open the box. The EOS R50 suits first-time camera owners stepping up from a phone, families, travelers and new video creators who want better pictures without a heavy bag.
Inside the EOS R50 is a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Canon's DIGIC X processor. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II covers about the whole frame with up to 651 zones and can detect people, animals and vehicles. Canon lists 4K up to 30p taken from the full sensor width and oversampled from 6K, Full HD up to 120p, and clips up to one hour.
The EOS R50 has a 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen, a 0.39-inch OLED viewfinder and a small built-in flash. The EOS R50 body itself has no in-body stabilization; the kit lens adds optical IS that Canon rates at up to 4 stops.
The box includes the camera, the 18-45mm lens with caps, an LP-E17 battery, the LC-E17 charger and a neck strap. Add an SD card (Canon recommends UHS Speed Class 3 or faster for 4K) and, if you shoot a lot, a spare LP-E17. The EOS R50 takes Canon RF and RF-S lenses directly, and EF or EF-S lenses with the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. Ask us in Fullerton whether the Canon EOS R50 or a full-frame body fits what you shoot.
