Specs and details
Overview
01 · What stands out
Made for filming yourself
A flip-out touchscreen, stereo mic and mic input make vlogging and streaming simple.
02 · What stands out
Small and light
Nikon lists the body at 12.4 oz (350 g), and the kit lens adds only 135 g.
03 · What stands out
Ready to shoot
The 16-50mm VR zoom covers wide to portrait views with 4.5-stop VR per Nikon.
The Nikon Z30 is the smallest and lightest camera in Nikon's Z series, a vlogging camera made for streamers, students and anyone stepping up from a phone. This kit pairs the body with the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR zoom, so the Nikon Z30 is ready to shoot out of the box, from wide room shots to portraits.
Nikon lists a 20.9MP DX (APS-C) sensor, ISO 100 to 51200, hybrid autofocus with face and eye detection for people and pets, and up to 11 fps shooting. Video on the Nikon Z30 runs at 4K UHD up to 30p and Full HD up to 120p, with clips up to 125 minutes and electronic VR for steadier handheld footage.
What makes the Nikon Z30 a practical vlogging camera is the setup around you: a built-in stereo mic, a 3.5 mm mic input, and a 3 in vari-angle touchscreen that flips forward so you can see yourself while you talk. There is no eye-level viewfinder, and the camera can run on USB-C power for long streams. The 16-50mm lens is equal to about 24-75mm on full frame, weighs 135 g and has optical VR that Nikon rates at 4.5 stops.
For the Nikon Z30 kit, Nikon lists the body, the 16-50mm lens with LC-46B front cap and LF-N1 rear cap, an EN-EL25 battery, UC-E24 USB cable, AN-DC29 strap and BF-N1 body cap. A charger is not included (the MH-32 is sold separately), and the battery can charge in the camera over USB. The single slot takes UHS-I SD cards. The Nikon Z30 accepts all NIKKOR Z lenses, and FX lenses give a 1.5x narrower view on this DX body. Ask us if you are choosing between it and a phone setup, and see every mirrorless camera we carry.
