The Canon EOS R50 V is a compact interchangeable-lens camera built mainly for video, and the first body in Canon's EOS V series. The R50 V is aimed at vloggers, streamers, small businesses filming product demos and anyone who records themselves as often as they shoot others. This listing is the body only, without a lens.
Inside the Canon EOS R50 V is a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor with the DIGIC X processor. Canon lists 4K up to 30p from the full sensor width oversampled from 6K, 4K up to 60p with a crop and Full HD up to 120p, with Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ and up to 10-bit 4:2:2 recording. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracks people, animals and vehicles.
For creators, the R50 V adds a record button on the front as well as the top, a red tally light, a side tripod socket for vertical video, a power-zoom lever, mic and headphone jacks, and dual-band Wi-Fi with built-in streaming modes. There is no viewfinder; you frame on the 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen. The R50 V has no in-body stabilization, so it relies on lens optical IS plus a digital Movie IS mode.
The box includes the body, a body cap, an LP-E17 battery, the LC-E17 charger and a neck strap. Add a lens and an SD card; Canon recommends UHS Speed Class 3 or faster for 4K, and the slot supports UHS-II. The R50 V takes Canon RF and RF-S lenses, including the RF-S14-30mm power zoom, and EF or EF-S lenses with the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R.
