Specs and details
Overview
01 · What stands out
AI subject recognition
A dedicated AI processing unit tracks people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles in stills and video.
02 · What stands out
4K up to 120p
Records 10-bit 4:2:2 4K, with 4K 60p oversampled from 6K and 120p for slow motion.
03 · What stands out
Stabilized body
Sony rates the 5-axis in-body stabilization at 5.0 stops, so unstabilized primes get help too.
The Sony a6700 is a compact APS-C mirrorless camera for people who shoot both photos and video and want real control without a large body. This listing is the body only, so the Sony a6700 suits shooters who already own E-mount lenses or want to choose the lens that fits their work, from a small prime for travel to a long zoom for wildlife.
Sony built the Sony a6700 around a 26 MP back-illuminated Exmor R sensor and the BIONZ XR processor, with a dedicated AI processing unit that recognizes people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes. The hybrid autofocus uses up to 759 phase-detection points for stills, and Sony rates the 5-axis in-body stabilization at 5.0 stops (CIPA).
Video on the Sony a6700 records 10-bit 4:2:2 4K at up to 60p oversampled from 6K, and up to 120p with a crop for slow motion. Stills run up to 11 frames per second, ISO spans 100 to 32,000, and you frame through a 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder or the vari-angle touchscreen, so this mirrorless camera works at eye level or held out in front of you.
In the box with the Sony a6700, Sony packs the NP-FZ100 battery, a shoulder strap, body cap, accessory shoe cap and eyepiece cup. You will need a lens and an SD card: the single slot takes UHS-I and UHS-II cards, and a fast UHS-II card is the sensible match for high bit-rate 4K. No charger is listed; the Sony a6700 charges its battery in the camera over USB-C from a USB Power Delivery source. It works with Sony E-mount lenses, both APS-C and full-frame. Questions
Does the Sony a6700 come with a lens?
No. ILCE-6700/B is the body only. Sony sells kit versions separately, and any Sony E-mount lens fits this body.
Does the a6700 have in-body image stabilization?
Yes. It has 5-axis sensor-shift stabilization that Sony rates at 5.0 stops (CIPA), and it also works with lenses that have no stabilization of their own.
What memory card does the a6700 use?
It has one SD card slot that accepts UHS-I and UHS-II cards. For high bit-rate 4K formats such as XAVC S-I, a fast UHS-II card is the safer choice.
How many photos does the a6700 battery last?
Sony rates the supplied NP-FZ100 at about 570 shots using the screen and 550 using the viewfinder (CIPA). The battery can also charge inside the camera over USB-C.
