This ProMaster Nikon Z rear lens cap covers the back of Nikon Z-mount lenses, such as NIKKOR Z zooms and primes. It protects the rear element from dust, smudges and scratches while the lens sits in a bag or a drawer.
ProMaster sizes it for the Nikon Z bayonet, so the Nikon Z rear lens cap goes on and comes off the same way as the cap that came with your lens. The same Z-mount rear cap fits any lens made for the Nikon Z bayonet.
Put the cap on as soon as the lens comes off the camera, and wipe the inside of it now and then so it does not carry dust onto the glass. An Nikon Z rear lens cap is small and light, so a spare can live in your bag for every lens you own, or replace one that went missing or cracked.

Will this rear cap fit my lens?
It fits lenses with the Nikon Z-mount. ProMaster makes separate caps for other mounts, so match the mount name on the lens, not only the brand.
Is this a front cap or a rear cap?
It is a rear cap. It covers the mount end of the lens. Front caps snap onto the filter end and are sold by size in millimeters.
Can I put it on a camera body?
No. It is made for lenses only. To close the opening on a Nikon Z camera, use a body cap for the same mount.
Why use a rear cap at all?
The rear element is exposed when the lens is off the camera. The cap keeps dust, smudges and scratches off it in your bag or on a shelf.
